Eugenol is a volatile phenolic constituent of clove essential oil. The oil is derived from the flower buds of clove of eugenol (60-90%), whereas oil is derived from the leaves of the clove tree of eugenol (82-88%) and the oil derived from the twigs of cloves consist of 90-95% of eugenol.
